Having a UNA Card Now Has More Privileges

Perks recently expanded after deal reached between the UNA and UBC, spelling better access to campus facilities for cardholders

There are plenty of advantages that come with holding a UNA card that you may not know about.

Residents of the university neighbourhoods can join the UNA and in addition to giving residents a voice, it also offers benefits and access to various amenities across the campus. This includes discounts to gift shops, sports facilities and other perks.

Having a UNA card grants free admission to museums and gardens including the Museum of Anthropology, the UBC Botanical Garden, Nitobe Memorial Garden, and Beaty Biodiversity Museum, as well as a 10 per cent discount at the museum gift shops. The UBC Garden also offers UNA card holders a 20 per cent discount on admission to the Greenheart TreeWalk and an annual pass for the tree walk for $20.

UNA cardholders who are not and never have been UBC students are also eligible for a community borrower card to the UBC libraries at no fee. It also grants access to branch computers as well as in-person and online book borrowing.

The card provides a discount at athletic spaces such as the UBC Aquatics Centre and the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. The aquatics centre offers reduced prices to UNA children, youth and adults by a margin of about 15 per cent. This extends to sports camps, where cardholders get lower prices to winter, spring and summer camps for youth.

Aside from UBC services, the UNA card also provides discounted recreation, fitness passes, and personal training sessions, as well as additional discounts to various small businesses in Wesbrook and on campus.

To be eligible for a UNA card, a person must be at least 18 years of age, and reside in any of the areas or designated buildings administered by the UNA, including; East Campus, Chancellor Place, Hampton Place, Hawthorn Place, Wesbrook Place, Central Building, Focal Building

It is best to have your details up to date because many of these benefits hinge on being a current and valid cardholder.
