We’re always on the lookout for volunteer writers, photographers, and illustrators who have a passion for local journalism and a good story to tell. Interested? Tell us your idea, how you’d like to contribute, and please include a short bio (150 words max).

Writer-in-Residence
The Campus Resident is launching a paid Writer-in-Residence program commencing August 1 for an upstart storyteller who wants to play a role in hyperlocal journalism.
Application details
This is a five-month residency commencing in August 2026 and includes a monthly paid stipend of $120 per month in return for the completion of a set of writing assignments. Work includes researching, reporting, writing news articles and features, as well as opportunities for photography.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with professional journalists and writers to develop their reporting and writing skills.
To apply, please write to editor@thecampusresident.ca and tell us in 250 words or less why you think you would be a good fit. Please include three story ideas, your current address, and feel free to share a resume and some writing samples if you have them.
The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. on Monday June 4.
Arts and Culture
For submissions to our monthly arts and culture section:
- Please include your name, the neighborhood you live in, and a short 40 word bio describing your art and who you are.
- Visual art submissions must be sent in high-resolution at 300dpi, preferably as JPG/PNG/TIFF/PDF files.
- For written submissions, please attach as a .doc, .docx, or Google Doc file
